How To Apply Makeup On An Oily Skin
Oily or dry skin both have their own set of issues. Oily skin can be more prone to acne, pimples and other skin infections. It is annoying to deal with the excess oil on the face. People having oily skin usually shun all the moisturisers and skin creams.
This is, however, not a good idea, as it can make the skin more oily and damaged. This is because more oil gets secreted from the skin pores when there is no external moisturisation. You should apply an oil-free skin cream or moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and to prevent excess oil.
Frequent washing is also not recommended for an oily skin, as it makes the skin completely dry. This may stimulate the natural oil glands of the skin to produce more oil. Hence, you must know certain simple and effective tips for maintaining an oily skin.
Having said that, applying makeup on an oily skin is also a big issue. Ladies having oily skin can understand that well. Let's know some best tips of applying makeup on an oily skin.
In this article, we have mentioned some best tips on how to keep the makeup on an oily skin stay for a long time and some tips for an oily skin.

Wash Your Face
Just before applying your makeup, wash your face using a facewash containing salicylic acid. Pat dry and then apply an oil-free moisturiser. Also, wash your hands before washing the face, as the oil of your hands may get into your face.

Wipe With Alcohol
Put some drops of rubbing alcohol in a cotton swab. Wipe your forehead, chin and nose with it. This will keep the oil-prone areas dry.

Choose The Right Foundation
For an oily skin, always use an oil-free and mineral-based foundation. There are many types of foundations available and you must grab the right one for your skin type.

Use An Oil-Free Moisturiser
Apply an oil-free moisturiser on your skin before applying the foundation. Let it sit on your skin for sometime before applying the makeup.

Apply A Face Powder Before Foundation
Apply a light layer of powder on your face, before applying the foundation. Face powder can help your makeup stay on your face for a long time. It absorbs the excess oil on your face by filling in the skin pores.

For Long-Lasting Eyeshadow
Another best tip to keep your makeup on the eyes (oily skin) for a long time is by avoiding the use of concealers on eyelids. You should use an eyelid primer or just apply powder before putting an eyeshadow.

Use A Face Mask
Apply a face mask of fuller's earth (multani mitti) or kaolin on your face 2 or 3 hours before applying makeup. It absorbs the excess oil from your skin and keeps it dry for long. However, wash your face after the face mask has become completely dry, as it may draw too much of oil from your skin later.

Blot First Before Applying Powder
The last tip on how to retain the makeup for long on an oily skin is to blot your face, so that it absorbs all the oil from your skin. Later apply face powder on your skin.
