Brazilian Wax: Tips For Beginners; Things To Avoid Doing After A Waxing Session
There is no right or wrong answer as to how you wish to handle your pubic hair. If you love (or simply don't mind) your hair, then keep it. If you don't like it - get rid of it!
In a bikini wax, hair is removed two to three inches beyond the line of your bathing suit. However, during a Brazilian wax, your labia, your outer labia, your clitoral fold (where your skin begins to divide and you find your inner labia), and between your buttocks are completely waxed [1].

Basically, the procedure removes all the hair down there.
Before you schedule a Brazilian wax, it is important to keep the following things in mind. Make sure you are familiar with your attender, build a rapport with them so that things do not become uncomfortable during the procedure, and last but not least, pay close attention to hygiene as it is of paramount importance [2].
Brazilian Wax Tips For Beginners
Let's take a look at some of the things you should consider prior to having a Brazilian wax:
1. There is no need to be shy
If you're getting a Brazilian wax, you should know that you're going to get it done by a professional. While spreading your legs and getting naked may sound weird, you should know your waxer has seen a lot of different shapes and sizes before, so they won't get judgemental.
2. Wash well
Make sure you take a shower before heading to the parlour. You should make sure you are clean down there, so as to avoid infections. However, do not use soap, as that will cause your skin to dry out. Use a body wash or gel instead.
3. Trim it a little bit
One of the most important things you must do before a Brazilian wax is to trim the hair down there rather than shaving it. Trimming the hair down there will make it easier for the professional to remove it.
Brazilian waxes should not be performed on areas where razors will leave behind ingrown hairs that can be painful to remove while waxing.

4. Medicate if you must
The best way to reduce your risk of pain is to take a painkiller 20 minutes prior to your appointment.
Some people have found it to be effective at easing discomfort. Taking painkillers prior to an appointment prevents the body from releasing an inflammatory response when the client is being worked on. This can help to reduce the severity of the pain by reducing the inflammation that can be caused by treatment [3].
5. Exfoliate
Taking a warm bath or shower prior to your wax will soften your skin, making hair removal more comfortable. Exfoliation the night before or taking a warm bath can prepare your skin for waxing. The warm water and steam open up the pores and soften the hair that is trapped in the follicles. This makes it easier for the wax to grip the hairs and remove them from the root [4].

Things To Avoid Doing After A Brazilian Wax Session
To prevent painful chafing against raw, tender skin, do not wear tight-fitting underwear or pants afterward. Do not touch the area or use any products on it afterward. The waxy residue should be removed from the skin by using unscented oil.
Give your skin a day to dry out before resuming normal activities or sweating.
