Bid adieu to yellow nails with the help of these at-home natural ingredients.

A well manicured hand, perfectly buffed nails and neatly applied nail paint are a sign of perfect grooming.
While strong and healthy hands and nails indicate health and vitality, regularly painting them and using nail polish removers often can leave them dull, brittle and yellow.

And the best part is, you don't have to splurge in unnecessary products laden with chemicals. You can find all the ingredients right at home. Take a look to know more on the home remedies to get rid of yellow nails.

1) Method Using A Whitening Toothpaste:
This is the easiest way to whiten your nails using the ingredient you mostly find in all homes.
Ingredients:
- Whitening toothpaste
- Nail polish remover
- Four-way buffing block
Method:
- Clean your nails and remove any nail polish residue using a good quality nail polish remover.
- Buff your nails using a manual or a battery-operated nail buffer.
- Evenly coat the top and undersides of your nails with a thick layer of whitening toothpaste and gently scrub using any narrow and soft brush, and rinse.
- If you do not see the desired result, apply another coat and let it sit for another 10-15 minutes. You will notice instantly brighter nails after the rinsing.

2) Method Using Baking Soda:
Baking soda is a common household product, which has countless uses in the beauty department and at home too. It has been used from thousands of years to polish surfaces and remove odours. Since it is a little abrasive, it will provide a good buffing to your nails, thereby removing the yellowness.
Ingredients:
- Two teaspoons of baking soda
- Some warm water
Method:
- Remove any nail paint and buff your nails.
- Use the above-mentioned ingredients to make a thick paste and apply on the nail tops and undersides.
- Let the mixture sit for five minutes and later rinse.

3) Method Using Lemon Juice
Lemon juice has citric acid that can easily remove stains from your nails.
Ingredients:
- Some freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Cotton swab
Method:
- Take some freshly squeezed lemon juice and apply it directly on to your nails, using a cotton swab.
- Let it stand for a few minutes and later rinse. The nails will look great and because of the lemony-citrusy scent, your hands will smell great too!

4) Method Using Essential Oils
Some essential oils do a great job at de-staining the nails and also combat fungal infections.
Ingredients:
- Lemon essential oil
- Tea-tree oil
- Some warm water
Method:
- Make an infusion of lemon oil or tea tree oil in some warm water and soak the nails in it.
- The whitening action of lemon will strip away the stains, and tea tree oil combats fungal infections and removes the stains caused by it.
Most of these home remedies to get rid of yellow nails do dry out your hands. So, use a good moisturiser after you are done.
Ways To Prevent Stained Nails:
