Yoga To Curb Crime With Fit Officers

The Yoga camp was successfully organised with the aid of a 90-year-old yoga institute that obliged to render classes free of cost. Yoga camp has served to benefit around 5,000 police officers to keep stress at bay.
Hansaji Yogendra, Yoga instructor said that the Additional Commissioner had approached him regarding the well being of the police personnel a week ago. He was concerned about the fact that more than 150 of the police personnel had died of stress, heart attacks, paralysis and chronic diseases. High blood pressure, diabetics, migraine and asthma, outcomes of their stressful work have to be curbed for their sound health. Apart from diseases of the body, frustration and dejection pave way for increased stress. Domestic clashes are not to be forgotten due to spending less time with the family. The Yoga instructor thus said that the commissioner expressed his concern listing the issues of the police' wellbeing and fitness, seeking the aid of Yoga.
Hansaji Yogendra also added that keeping in mind the issues, the institute has designed a special programe for the police, adding that the police personnel made the best use of the opportunity by being present everyday for the daily exercises.
“This week long camp has to be attended by every officer. We are being taught various techniques including breathing exercises and other yogic exercises which have really helped us to relax," said Rajesh Kale, a police inspector.
Yoga, as an efficient aid helps to modify the response of the body to varied stress types, thereby helping the officials to fare better in their career.
