Sharad Purnima Date 2023: Amavasya (New Moon) and Purnima (full moon) have special significance in Hinduism. Sharad Purnima is special from a religious point of view. According to the Hindu calendar, Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This year Sharad Purnima will be observed on 28 October 2023.
It is believed that on this occasion the moon becomes full of 16 kala or art and its rays of light shower nectar. Worshiping Moon God on this day is considered very auspicious. Know in detail about Sharad Purnima date, shubh muhurat, Lakshmi Puja, timings, and significance.

Sharad Purnima 2023 Date
The Purnima Tithi of Ashwin month will start at 04:17 am on 28 October 2023 and will end at 01:53 am on 29 October 2023. That means Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on 28 October 2023. The special thing to keep in mind is that this year the last lunar eclipse of the year is also going to occur on the full moon day.
Sharad Purnima 2023: Moonrise And Lakshmi Puja Time
On the day of Sharad Purnima, moonrise will happen from 05:20 pm on 28 October 2023.
There are three auspicious times for Lakshmi Puja. Shubh muhurat will be from 08:51 to 10:28 pm.
The second best Amrit Muhurat will be from 10:28 pm to 12:04 am.
And the third Chara Samayukta Muhurta will be from 12:05 am till 01:41 am on 29 October 2023.
Sharad Purnima 2023: Religious Significance
According to a religious belief, on the night of Sharad Purnima, the moon appears in its sixteen phases due to which amrit (divine nectar) rains from the sky. On this day, kheer is prepared and kept under the open sky so that the qualities of amrit get absorbed in the kheer along with the rays of the moon. After this, this kheer is consumed, which is considered very beneficial for health.
Worship of the Moon and Goddess Lakshmi on the night of Sharad Purnima increases happiness and prosperity in lives of individuals. Therefore, along with Chandradev, Goddess Lakshmi is also worshiped on this day. Along with this, Lord Krishna had composed Maharas on the day of Sharad Purnima, hence it is also called Raas Purnima.
