Thirukkural-On Avoiding Vulgarity-Kural-456

Killai nanraakaa vinai
The pure of heart leave behind a virtuous line; on the other hand,
The efforts of those with clean associations will never fail.
Parimel Azhagar would say that the pure-minded will be assured of their very good progeny; so too the activities of the men of pure associations will invariably be attended with success.
Here again, as in Kurals 44 and 114, the word (echcham) will attract differing interpretations. In this context, Manakudavar gives the lead. He says the word (echcham) would cover all that a person has to follow, that lead and plumb for an interpretation, which should cover not only a person"s reputation, but also the sum-total of his ideals, followers and institutions, not omitting the children of good parts and reputation, that he has left behind. The idea would be quite clear, if we apply the word (echcham) To what has been left behind, by a great sage like Gandhiji for India and the world.
What is implied in this Kural is what an integration of the two concepts of (Mananthooymai) (Inanthooymai) (i.e) purity of mind and of association will bring about for a king, who has the benefit of both.
The following Kurals amplify this, is good measure in 457, 458 and 459, putting together the two ideas in two beautiful phrases (Mananalam) and (Inanalam).
