Tirukkural-On Virtue-On Rectitude-Kural 112

Echchattir kaemaappu udaithu.
A just man's acquisitions will go down to his heirs,Without waste and so protect them.
The fair earnings of a man of rectitude, has the staying power, which will protect even his posterity in the use of these earnings. By way of comment on this, Rajaji would say, following Gandhiji, that rectitude of means employed give stability to what is acquired, whereas what is got by swerving from the straight path, stands ever in danger of being lost or may serve as a share.
According to Valluvar, upright conduct would ensure that one's children are assured of happiness after him. Cf. Kural 44. The present Kural is additional justification of my interpretation of that Kural and laying down 'Paziyanji paathoon' – 'faultless earning and generous sharing' as a special concept postulated by Valluvar.
The Bible has the same sentiments expressed in the following lines:
A righteous man who walks in his integrity –
Blessed are his sons after him.
(Proverbs 20 : 7)
