Those who have achieved the strength of penance Could defeat even the lord of Death.

A person who has mastered himself through penance will be in a position to overcome even Yama. Both Manakudavar and Parithiar refer to Markandeya as the example for such achievement.

The expression 'Kootram kudhithal' occurs in the same sense in 'NaladiaAr'.
