This interpretation is according to Parimelalagar. Manakudavar would call Nalakuriyar as virum or desirable persons. Parithiar would give its meaning as 'Nallavar' persons who earn a good name.
A high standard of virtue and, therefore, of the good graces that flow there from are attributed to the man who upholds the honour of his neighbour's wife, and generally of all other women.
