Not Causing Injury
oi-Staff

Even if it is productive of wealth and attendant fame,Men of virtue will surely not do harm to others.
The idea here is that, for securing a material or spiritual benefit too, causing harm to others is unjustifiable. Kalinagar specifically interprets 'Sirappu' as 'Mukthi' meaning heaven or release. Valuvar would, hold up 'Not causing harm to others; as the ultimate ideal of righteousness. This chapter deals with the concept of Non-injury, studied by the poet from various angles.
