Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's words of wisdom, revokes the mind that is deluded in the pleasure of gold and women. Greed for money makes it one's life-blood, driving one to concentrate on hoarding it. The master says that, however one resorts to holding on to it, it is not guaranteed that it would stay with one as an eternal comrade. It has to be utilized in the best possible way for a meaningful disposition, which in turn would enrich life.

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa illustrates the truth of putting money to the best use with a simple practice of the farmers of Kamarpukur. The farmers build a ridge around their paddy field to safe guard it, however the ridges get destroyed with the gushing of the rain water. Some others who adopt to build a ridge, allow a part of it to be opened and have sod put there.

When the rain lashes, the water flows through the sod leaving the field covered with silt after the rain stops. This in turn brings about a rich harvest. So is the case with men of discrimination who put their money to the use of worship and service of holy men and devotees. Their money alone bears fruits thereby enriching their life says Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

The Master thus draws one's mind out of the lust for money, to be employed for higher causes, which in turn nourishes his life with ideals that lead one ultimately to liberation.
