In 2025, Sawan Shivratri promises to be especially powerful, falling on a highly auspicious day when planetary alignments enhance the energy of every offering.
From waking up early to collect Gangajal to staying up all night chanting "Om Namah Shivaya," every ritual matters. Whether you're doing a simple Abhishek at home or heading to a crowded temple with your family, knowing the exact timing and chants can make all the difference. Sawan Shivratri 2025: Mantras To Chant
It's not just what you offer, but what you say while offering it that creates spiritual impact. Powerful mantras can cleanse negative karma, strengthen your focus, and deepen your connection with Shiva. On this day, chant:
1. Om Namah Shivaya - the most sacred and widely recited mantra
2. Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra:
"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe, Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan, Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat"
This mantra is known to remove fear, disease, and untimely death. Recite it 108 times, preferably during Brahma Muhurat or just before Jalabhishek.
If you're observing a night-long vigil (jagran), continue chanting these mantras with a diya (lamp) lit nearby.
What Time Lord Shiva Will Be Worshipped on Sawan Shivratri 2025
Main worship is performed during the night of July 23 across all four Prahars, particularly during the Nishita Kaal (12:07 AM - 12:47 AM, July 24).
Devotees typically begin their prayers at sunset and continue the worship-including jal and milk abhishek-until early morning on July 24, with special focus on midnight puja and consecutive night watches.
The vrat (fast) should be broken after sunrise and before the end of Chaturdashi Tithi (from 5:27 AM, July 24 onwards).
How To Celebrate Sawan Shivratri At Home If You Can't Visit A Temple
If you're unable to go to a temple due to health, distance, or crowd concerns, you can still celebrate Sawan Shivratri at home.
- Wake up before sunrise, take a bath, wear clean white clothes, and set up a small Shiva Lingam (or photograph).
- Offer water mixed with Gangajal, followed by milk, curd, honey, sugar, and ghee-called Panchamrit.
- Light a diya, burn some camphor, and chant the Shiva mantras.
- You can also recite the Shiva Chalisa or read chapters from the Shiv Puran. Avoid meat, onion, garlic, and excess talking throughout the day.
- Keep your surroundings clean and maintain silence during the puja for better spiritual focus.
By observing the correct rituals and timings, devotees can make the most of this holy night and invite Lord Shiva's divine grace into their lives. May this Sawan Shivratri bring you and your family spiritual upliftment and joy!
