Ram navami 2023: Vrat Dishes For The Navami Day
Ram Navami like any other festival includes fasting as a worship ritual. Lord Ram devotees fast for 8 p rahars, that is sunrise to sunrise on the Ram Navami, as per the scriptures, and worship Lord Ram with all prescribed rituals. This means, devotees should observe the fast from sunrise to sunrise on the day of Ram Navami.

Even on a fast, one can consume curd, milk, tea, coffee, fruits and root vegetables. The only exceptions that are not allowed is wheat and rice. One can consume any fruit on Ram Navami. Table salt is a strict no no. Just when Navami tithi gets over and the Dashami tithi starts, you must break the fast, by doing parana. Let us see which dishes are allowed for vrat for Ram Navami.
1. Sabudana Khichdi Recipe For Fasting Or Vrat
Sabudana ki khichdi turns out to be nonsticky and hence can be tried comfortably. It is mix of sabudana with potatoes, some spices and some peanuts. This is certainly a good choice as it is gluten free..
2. Rajgira Roti/Paratha
Rajgira roti or rajgira paratha is gluten free paratha, made with the Rajgira or the Amaranth flour. It is a vrat dish that is healthwise, helps your constitution.
3. Sama Chawal Khichdi
Samvat rice khichdi is a porridge or Ganji dish prepared from Barnyard millet ( sama chawal) and potatoes. Potatoes are carbohydrate rich and provide you just the energy that you want on a fasting day.
4.. Aloo Tamatar Ki Sabji
Aloo Tamatar Ki Sabji is light on spices, and uses potatoes, tomatoes, herbs and some spices barring onion and garlic.
5. Kuttu (Buckwheat) Ki Khichdi
Buckwheat Khichdi takes less effort and time to prepare this using kuttu and peanuts . it is wholesome healthy and filing..
4. Vrat Ke Aloo
Vrat ke aloo is made with spices, herbs, potatoes, and tomatoes.
5. Makhane Ki Kheer
Using Makhana, milk, sugar, dry fruits.and ghee you can prepare this dessert kheer. It is a very popular vrat dish.
6. Sama Ke Chawal Ki Idli
This idli is made without regular rice in the same way a regular idli is made. This can also be consumed in the regular days.
7. Kuttu Ka Paratha
Kuttu ki roti or paratha is made with buckwheat flour and mashed potatoes. This Flatbread or paratha is prepared for vrat purposes mostly.
8. Rajgira Kadhi
Also called Farali Kadhi, it is quick and easy dish to be used for the vrat or upawas.
9. Paneer Kheer
Paneer kheer is an easy paneer dish that takes less than 25 mn to prepare.
10. Easy Dry Fruits Laddu Recipe
Easy Dry fruits laddu does not use sugar or fats. They are made with dates, figs, and other nuts. It hardly takes 20 minutes to prepare these.
13. Rice Pudding
Rice pudding is popular and common every region that comes with a lot of variations. Milk and rice are the basic ingredients. You can add any added flavor like jiggery or mango. Garnish with raisins.
14. Neer Mor
It is a diluted buttermilk to which salt, a dash of ginger, curry leaves. And green chillies are added. It is a prescribed dish for summers and especially as a vrat dish for Ram Navami.
15. Kaju Barfi
Cashew nuts are roasted and blended into a powder. To this sugar syrup is added and kneaded to mix it properly. Kaju Burfi is something with an out of this world flavor.
16. Coconut Laddoo
Coconut Laddoo has many variations available from sugar or jaggery. Mix grated coconut pulp with condensed milk and sugar, and the coconut ladoo is ready for your consumption.
