Maha Shivratri 2024: Never Do These Mistakes While Performing Lord Shiva Puja
On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, every devotee tries to please Lord Shiva to get his blessings. This year Shivratri will be celebrated on 8 March 2024.
On this day, a huge crowd of devotees visit the temple and offer water to the Shivalinga. People believe that by offering a pot of water with a true heart, the blessings of Mahadev can be obtained.

It is advised to take care of some things during the worship of Lord Shiva so that the full results of fasting and worship can be achieved. Let us know through this post which tasks should not be done even by mistake on the day of Maha Shivratri.
1. It is better if women avoid applying vermillion to Lord Shiva. Sandalwood paste can be used instead.
2. Lord Shiva loves white flowers. Therefore, when it comes to offering flowers to Lord Shiva then any red flower should be avoided. However, Ketaki and Kevada flowers should be avoided as it is said that this flower is cursed and despised by Lord Shiva.
3. Devotees should avoid wearing black clothes on this day because it is said that Lord Shiva does not like this color.
4. According to the Puranas, one should not perform a complete parikrama around the Shiva Linga. It should always be a semi-circle, then you should return to where you started.
5. It is better to avoid basil leaves because it is believed that their use can make the puja incomplete. Additionally, it also symbolizes Goddess Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu.
6. Whenever you offer wood apple leaves to Lord Shiva, it should be ensured that there are no scratches on the leaves. Damaged leaves can mean an insult to the deity.
