Putana Legend
According to the legends once a demoness called Putana came to kill Lord Krishna when He was a baby. She gave the Lord her poisoned milk to drink. Lord Krishna did not die but His colour changed to blue. He later killed the demoness but His skin colour remained blue.

Kaaliya Legend
Another legend is of the Kaaliya serpent who lived in the Yamuna river. The serpent had created a havoc for the residents of Gokul. So, when Lord Krishna went to fight the serpent, the poison of the deadly snake made Krishna's skin colour blue.

The Blue Colour Of Nature
Lord Krishna depicts the colour of Nature. The sky, the seas and so many things in Nature are blue in colour. The colour provides inner peace and serenity to a human being.

Blue color of Lord Krishna embodies the vastness of His character, the depth of His vision and the unfailing timeliness of His deeds. Hence Lord Krishna is blue.
