This day is also known as Hal Sashti and Lalahi Chhath in Northern parts of India. In the Braj region, this day is popularly known as Baladeva Chhath and in Gujarat, this day is observed as Randhan Chhath. Balaram Jayanti 2023: Significance

Lord Balaram was born to Vasudeva and Rohini during the Dwapara Yuga. According to Hindu mythology, he was transferred from Devaki's womb into Rohini's womb by Yogmaya at the command of Lord Vishnu. Hence, he is also known as 'Rohini Nandan'. His birth symbolizes power and strength.

Lord Balaram represents strength, farming, and religious duties. He is often depicted holding a plough (Hala) and mace (Gada), symbolizing agriculture and strength respectively. His teachings emphasize duty, righteousness, and love for nature & agriculture which are still relevant today.

He is also worshipped as an avatar of Adishesha, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu rests. Balarama is also known as Baladeva, Balabhadra and Halayudha.
