The Mango Offering

One Perumal Naidu had a mango grove which for three consequent years had not yielded any fruits. Driven to the core of disappointment, Perumal Naidu, realising the miraculous powers of Nagore Andavan, made a vow. He prayed that by the saint's grace, if the trees bore fruit that year, he would offer the first dozen of mangoes to Him.
As saints transcend time, it is not a fact of wonderment when Perumal Naidu's mango grove blossomed totally out of season and bore fruits the very next month. The mangoes had appeared even before the season could arrive. Perumal Naidu's joy knew no bounds. He immediately set out to carry out his resolve of offering the mangoes to Nagore Andavan. His faith was such that he had resolved to cover the distance of forty miles by foot, which was nothing short of a pilgrimage to offer the fruits to the saint.
