Akshaya Tritiya 2023: Kuber Lakshmi Puja, Rules And Benefits
Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on the 3rd day of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh in April May as per the Gregorian calendar. Akshaya Tritiya is the day on which Sun and Moon are at their brightest in the sky. Akshaya means "undiminished". It is the day, on which Lord Kuber was given the kingdom of Alakapuri to rule, along with the responsibilities of handling the finances of heavens. He also came to be known as the God of wealth. Kuber was the original ruler of Lanka and it had been confiscated by the evil Ravana which was why Kuber, after a long penance, was gifted iwth Alakapuri by Gods. This is an opportune day for auspicious beginnings.

Akshaya Tritiya or Benefits of Lakshmi Kuber Puja of everlasting wealth, job stability and peaceful relationship with your partner if done perfectly. Nama japa, fasting, or spiritual activities have to be pursued on this day and if this is difficult, then at least praying to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi in all sincerity is enough to receive their blessings.
How Akshaya Tritiya Is Observed In Different States
Akshaya Tritiya is observed in many ways as per different regional traditions. The Rath Yatra at Puri Jagannath in Odisha, starts on this day. Three lunar days in a year are held as holy and sacred, the New Year, (between the months March and April.), the Vijayadashami, (between October and November) and lastly the Akshaya Tritiya (months of April and May).
This is a lucky and auspicious day for farmers. Sowing seeds is done by the head of the family and praying is done together by family members seeking a bountiful harvest. It is a moment to rejoice and to be happy from within. Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal are the states that rejoice and celebrate this day in the grandest way possible.
Rituals and customs are observed as per the regional preferences. Odisha people built the Rath for the Rath Yatra while in West Bengal, they invest in gold and silver. Maharashtrian women submit their prayers to Gauri for the longevity and wellbeing of their husbands and offer sweets and fruits as Prasad to the Goddess.
Uttar Pradesh celebrates it in an entirely different way. Banke Bihari's feet are unveiled and displayed for the general public. Krishna idols are smeared with sandalwood paste. Aamras, cucumber juice as well as Sattu ladoos are offered to the Deities as Prasad. Wearing yellow clothes and fasting taking holy dips in rivers, offering Arghya to the Sun, meditating with a Sankalpa procedure, purification of the house with Ganga Jal (punyaha) are the activities that are dutifully observed.
Puja Rituals
1. Place the idols of Vishnu Lakshmi on a wooden Chowki .
2. Cover the Chowki with a wooden cloth.
3. Place the idols of Lakshmi and Kubera on the Chowki.
4. Draw the swastika with sindoor on tijori or chest and business ledger.
5. Invoke the deities through prayers with folded palms
6. Offer flowers, chandan, akshat, dhoop, deep, and Prasad while chanting the mantra of Kuber.
