Adhik Maas Ki Katha: Reading Story Of Purushottam Maas Will Fetch You Special Blessings From Lord Krishna
Adhikamaas is formed due to a difference of 32 months, 16 days and 8 hours and is considered an extra month. It takes more months to close or balance this gap between the Sun and the Lunar years.
There are 365 days in the solar year and 354 days in the lunar year, similarly there is a difference of 11 days between the lunar and solar years in 1 year and 33 days in 3 years. Also, in Adhikamaas, there is no Surya Sankranti.

Sawan month is ongoing which is the month of Lord Shiva and during this month spiritual stories are read that helps one connect to Bholenath more. According to the story of Adhikamaas, those who do not have anyone to rely on, they have Lord Shiva beside them and those who are blessed by Bholenath earn a lot of name and fame during this time. So, let us know what is the story behind it and how it will help you to get special blessings from Lord Vishnu.
Adhik Maas Ki Katha: Story Of Purushottam Maas
According to Panchang, every month, date, day and planetary moments affects lives of an individual. Whilethe Lord of Aries is Mercury, the lord of Chaturdashi is Shiva. Similarly, every month also has its owner. But Adhik Maas, which comes every three years, had no owner. Due of this, it was considered inauspicious and doing auspicious work was prohibited in this month.
Adhik Maas also came to be known as Malmas i.e. inauspicious month. Saddened by this, Adhikamas went to seek help from Lord Shiva and he, who is known to be an ocean of mercy, traveled to Goloka with Adhikamas where he was introduced to Lord Lord Krishna, who was in the form of lord Shiva.
Adhikamas pleaded to Lord Vishnu that O Lord, I have no master and because of this I am considered inauspicious, please help me! Shri Krishna said don't worry, from today onwards I am your master, I am also known as Purushottam and since I am your master hence from today you will be known as Purushottam month.
Since then, Malmas came to be known as Purushottam month and due to the grace of Lord Krishna, one gets many times more virtues during this month by worshiping and engaging in charitable works. That's why auspicious works may be prohibited, but in this month, by doing religious deeds and charity, you get many times more results than in other months. By donating lamps in this month, wealth increases and by donating Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, one can obtain infinite virtue.
