When Relationship Status Is 'Complicated'
If you had to define your relationship in one word, then what would it be? Would it be 'happy', 'intimate' or 'complicated'? You might have noticed that the relationship status options on Facebook has an option saying, 'its complicated'. This is because the number of complicated relationships are increasing by the day.
These days, people are getting engaged in complicated relationships that make their already stressful life all the more difficult. There is no longer a clear concept of relationship status because you really don't know at what stage your relationship is.
Here are some signs that show that you are in a complicated relationship.
Nameless Relationship
When you are not sure if you can introduce her as your 'girlfriend' or not, then your relationship status is complicated. This means you are yet to give your relationship a name. You or your partner is shying away from having a clear cut relationship as lovers.
Friends With Benefits
If you have slept with a guy a couple of times, can he be your boyfriend? Ten years earlier the answer would be a definitely yes. But now, we are not so sure any more. It could be that you are just friends with benefits. But this fling might also mature into a healthy relationship.
Relationship With Future
Sometimes, you are in love with a person but you are also fully aware that you have no future with him/her. Such relationships are the ones that will eventually end in a breakup, but you are not ready for the final break yet. This usually happens when you love someone but cannot marry that person due to financial or family pressure.
Open Relationship
Many young people are opting for open relationships these days. In an open relationship, you are permitted to be with other guys or girls and even share intimate moments with them. This makes your relationship complicated because you can never know where you stand.
On-Again Off-Again
Sometimes a couple breaks up and patches so many times that they really don't know what their exact relationship status is. An any given point of time they are somewhere in between a breakup and getting together again. Such relationships are named on-again off-again. This too makes relationship status complicated.
Being in complicated relationships will not bring you peace. You might go through with such relationships in your teens and twenties. But as you get older, you must look towards making your relationship stable.
