What Does "I Love You" Mean?

'I love you', probably the combination of words most uttered in this world, is also the first words every child learns with an intention and also with a hidden ambition for an opposite gender's company. The phrase has multiple meanings imbibed into it. For some people it is an invitation to join hands in a heavenly romance, few fuses no love but lust into it, another group utters these words to whomever they meet, but never mean it. In fact, 'I love you', is the expression that comes from beneath the layers of your heart, where true affection lies, and is not just limited to lovers only.
It is not worthy to tell someone you love them on a regular basis if there is no passion and fire behind the statement. We often say the words, "I love you" without really feeling the meaning of them. The words mean, "You matter to me… I care about what happens to you etc." and there is so much more to it than these.
Although many people use this powerful phrase loosely, there are times when you want to say "I love you" in a meaningful way. Whether you're professing your love to a romantic partner or expressing it to a relative or friend, it can be difficult to convey how much they really mean to you and the intensity of how you feel.
When you say 'I love you' to some one you are assuring the person your heart to him/ her. In the combination of words 'love' stands between 'I' and 'You', which means love is the essential factor that holds together 'I' and 'You' in a relationship. If there is no love between 'I' and 'You' there can possibly have no relationship between two people.
The sincerity of the phrase is strengthened by knowing what love is, and what loving someone means to you. Determine the difference between love, infatuation and lust, and make sure it's genuine love that you feel for the person when you say "I love you". Bible says about true love that "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs".
Today almost everyone has misconceived the phrase 'I love you'. For teenagers it is just a word to attract a girlfriend or boyfriend, for married couples the phrase means few words to pretend the affection to the counterpart... More than affection and romance, lust and treachery is hidden behind the words today. Unlike the times when sincerity and trust was fused to the phrase, nowadays saying 'I love you' is just an exercise to tongue and what powers the words is disloyalty and selfishness.
The word love is precious as it knits human relationships together and it is not to be faked. When you say "I love you" to someone you should mean it from your conscience, and is not to be used as a way to satisfy your sexual hunger and selfish motives.
