How To Recognize Manipulation In A Relationship
Do you know how to catch manipulation in relationships? Here is the guide for you.
The best kind of relationship is when two people love and care for each other equally and intensely. But love is not the only thing that matters in a relationship.
After the novelty of the relationship wears away, the couple needs a lot of faith, trust and understanding to survive. Lucky are those couples who have faith and understanding to support the love they have when in a relationship.
There are many cases where the relationship is not based on any of the things mentioned above. A relationship can turn sour if there is jealousy, mistrust, manipulation and doubt.

Many people use manipulation as a weapon or means to tie their partner to themselves. Manipulation in a relationship is nothing short of emotional abuse and it is better to get out of such a relationship as soon as possible.
Manipulation is often dressed as love, care and possessiveness. There are manipulators who belong to both the sexes. It is very difficult to recognize manipulation, especially when you are deeply in love with your partner.
But it is important to find it as soon as possible and put an end to either such behaviour or to the relationship itself.
We have made a list of signs that will let you know if you are in a manipulative relationship or not. Read on to know more.

‘I Love You’ Is Used As A Justification For Their Actions
Has your partner ever committed a mistake and used their love as justification? Does your partner stop you from going out with your friends? Do they say that you are not allowed to go to certain places?
Well, jealousy and absence of trust may cause your partner to act in a bad way. If your partner realizes his mistake and apologises or mends his ways, it is great. But if he says that he does so because he loves you, know that it is a subtle way of manipulation.

If He Uses His Care To Explain His Possessiveness
If your partner dislikes you being away from him, it is a little suspicious. As individuals, everyone needs a little 'me' time.
If your partner restricts you from doing something you love and tells you that it is because he cares for you, you must wonder if you are being manipulated. Check to see if the partner truly cares for you before deciding.

Wants To Go Away For A Fresh Start
If your partner insists on a fresh start without any particular reason, you need to be suspicious. Often a move to a completely new place is to gain complete control over you.
They wish to cut you off from your family and friends by moving to a place where you do not have anybody for support. So, if your partner is proposing a fresh start, check the reasons for it. Make sure that you have a good support system if you do decide to move.

Making You Do Something By Asking You If You Love Them
When in love, you will do almost anything for your partner. If your partner wants you to do something that you don't like, it is a red flag. Manipulative partners use phrases such as ‘if you truly love me, please do this.'
You shouldn't have to prove your love, much less by doing something that you dislike. If your partner's love is true, they will never make you do something you don't like.

Suicide Threats
Suicide threats are perhaps the most common and the most extreme way that a person can manipulate their partner. If your partner proclaims their love for you and says that they will kill themselves if you were to leave them, know that it is not love.
There is nothing romantic in being threatened with suicide. It is just a way to manipulate you and influence your decisions.
