Women's lingerie gets male shoppers' pulses racing.

But, when it comes to women, it's the sight of evening dresses or a glamorous pair of shoes that do the trick.

The study, used monitor devices to track the heart rates of 1,000 shoppers, in a bid to establish which department of a shopping mall gets customers most excited.

Male and women customers aged between 20-40 showed different reasons to get excited while shopping.

Lingerie topped the list of goods that boosted men's heart rates, followed by high-tech sound systems and TVs. Men often enjoy buying something special for their loved ones.

Women appear to embark upon an emotional roller coaster when they step into a shop, as their heart rate peaks throughout the shopping experience.
