29 per cent of all adults suffer a disturbed sleep between five and seven nights a week and a further
27 per cent are woken up once or twice a week. 54 per cent of the women said it was their snoring partners.
Other sounds which disturb both men and women from sleeping are that of drunken rowdiness, often from a nearby pub at closing time or late night revelers outside their homes.
Women are sensitive to sounds associated with any potential threat to their children while men are more finely tuned to disturbances posing a possible threat to the whole family.
Ten sounds that are likely to wake up women are a baby's cry, dripping tap, rowdiness, snoring, buzzing fly, the sound of drilling, sirens, car alarms, howling wind and noise from drains.
