Insomnia During Pregnancy

Other causes are hormonal changes, stress, anxiety and uncomfortable body condition. At an advanced stage of pregnancy, one needs to adequate sleep and diet, in order to stay healthy and also for a healthy baby. Lack of sleep, can result it many complications which can be hazardous to the health of both mother and child.
Here are ways to treat Insomnia In Pregnancy -
1.Diet – A pregnant woman needs to take special care of her diet. When the body is in constant stress, our body needs extra amount of nutrient for proper functioning. Serotonin, is a neurotransmitter which helps a person sleep. If a woman is suffering from insomnia in pregnancy, then she should increase her intake of this kind of food stuff rich in Serotonin. Some of the food rich in the nutrient are tofu, tuna, unsweetened live yogurt and soymilk.
Calcium and Magnesium, also contribute to healthy sleep. Calcium should be taken in the form of dairy products, almonds, walnuts, green leafy vegetables etc.
2.Aromatherapy – Aromatherapy, has great potential in relaxing the mind. Once your mind is relaxed, your body is also free form all tension and thus letting you fall in peaceful sleep. Scented candles, aroma oils etc, used during bath and sleep, are the best forms of relaxation. Aromatherapy is safe for the first trimester of pregnancy but for using it in the later stages of pregnancy, one should consult a doctor.
4.Exercise – Exercise is one of the best ways to treat insomnia in pregnancy. Exercise should be done under a trained physiotherapist. Cramped muscles, still body parts are common pregnancy problems which causes insomnia. Exercise loosen the stiff muscles and thus allows one to sleep well. Exercise should always be accompanied by meditation.
5.Enhance Information – As the due date comes near, a pregnant lady goes under constant mental tension. As a result, she faces tense nervous system and lack of sleep leading to insomnia. If you are well informed about the whole process of pregnancy, your tension can be a bit less, as it will prepare you for what is coming up. Consulting a doctor for every problem is important. Small problems may lead to big issues. Thus, it is always better to solve it.
Pregnancy is a boon to every women and with all the complications, it is gift for a lifetime. You can cherish it by following some easy precautions.
