It is lovely to look at the little ones decked up in silk ghagra cholis and kurtas but what if those very pretty clothes become the cause of their accidents? It is a part of our culture to wear new traditional clothes on Diwali but as parents you can follow tradition only as long as it does not put your children in harm ways. Make sure your kids wear cotton clothes only this Diwali. Silk, satin, chiffon and other synthetic materials are easily inflammable.

Duppatas, stoles, long skirts or long sleeves make movement clumsy. It is always better for your kids to wear simple western clothes. You can make them wear all the fancy clothes you want at home during puja but near fireworks they should not wear clothes that do not hang about loosely or restrict movement. This point and one above is in your hands to follow.
3. Are Your Kids Bursting The Right Kind Of Fireworks?
Not all fireworks are for kids. You have to take a call on what is safe and what isn't for your children. However what fire crackers you buy for your kids is in your hands.
4. Do Your Kids Know How To Burst Crackers?
Fireworks for kids are exciting and in their zeal to burst crackers they throw caution to the winds. You have to teach them the tricks to burst each cracker. Its not rocket science, just the science behind lighting a rocket that you have to teach them!
