Scientists Use Stem Cell Therapy To Reverse Type-1 Diabetes
Know how stem cell therapy helps to reverse type-1 diabetes here in this article.
When we say diabetes, it isn't just Type-2, even Type-1 diabetes is equally prevalent. Diabetes is one of the leading lifestyle diseases across the globe and the number seems to be escalating further.
So is it the lifestyle that is to be blamed for the rising number of diabetes cases? Well, yes. Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and poor food habits are the major causes for the rising number of diabetes cases.
Well, amidst all these there is some good news coming through. In a new research, scientists have successfully reversed Type 1 diabetes in mice using stem cell therapy, paving the way for new treatments for the chronic disease in humans.

During the study, scientists had taken up mice with Type 1 diabetes and infused with pre-treated blood stem cells to produce more of a protein called PD-L1, which has a potent anti-inflammatory effect against Type 1 diabetes.
According to the researchers, the treated stem cell could curb the autoimmune reaction of the cells and reverse the abnormally high blood glucose condition in mice. Almost all the mice were cured of diabetes in the short term, while one third maintained normal blood sugar levels for the duration of their lives.
"Blood stem cells have immune-regulatory abilities, but it appears that in mice and humans with diabetes, these abilities are impaired. We found that in diabetes, blood stem cells are defective, promoting inflammation and possibly leading to the onset of disease," said, Paolo Fiorina, from the Boston Children's Hospital in the US.
The study was recently published in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
So let us also look at a few of the natural remedies for Type-1 diabetes. Check them out.

1. Honey:
Honey is one of the best natural ingredients that helps in treating the symptoms of diabetes. Several studies have found that consuming honey on a regular basis can have a positive effects on the metabolic derangements of type 1 diabetes, including possible beta cell regeneration as indicating by increases in fasting C-peptide levels.

2. Turmeric (Curcumin):
Turmeric is not just a spice, but it is known for its innumerable health benefits. The curcumin compound contained in turmeric is known for its rich anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can be added to your food or used as a supplement. A study that was conducted on mice has also found that the curcumin compound helps to stimulate the beta cell regeneration in type 1 diabetic.

3. Regular Exercise:
Regular exercise is a must if you want to keep diabetes at bay. Exercise does not just mean strenuous gym and muscle building. Even a 15-30 minutes of walk actually helps in reducing the risk of diabetes.

4. Healthy Diet:
Type-1 diabetes is basically hereditary. A diet rich in fibre, like fruits and vegetables, whole grains and beans should be a must have for those with Type-1 diabetes. It is very essential to cut down on saturated fats if you have Type-1 diabetes.
