Losing weight is not an easy task. In order to lose weight people try out several methods. Few people even go to the extent of starving by skipping their major meals.
Well, skipping meals is one of the major mistakes that one commit in the process of losing weight. People fail to understand that skipping meals does not help one to lose weight rather it further aggravates the problem.
A new study has found that mindfulness training is one of the best ways to lose weight. For the study, mindfulness interventions involved either formal meditation, informal mindfulness strategies that focused on eating activity, or a combinations of these two approaches.
For the study, researchers at the McGill University in Canada examined 19 studies that was conducted over a decade.

During the study, the researchers found that mindfulness participants had continued to lose weight, bringing their average weight loss to 3.5% of their initial body weight, while those in the "lifestyle-change" programs regained some weight.
At the end of the study researchers found that interventions based on mindfulness proved "moderately effective for weight loss" and "largely effective in reducing obesity-related eating behaviours."
The findings are "encouraging" and "highlight the potential of using mindfulness training to support weight loss," said Kimberly Carriere, from the McGill University.
The study was recently published in the journal Obesity Reviews.
