Why Did Miss Japan 2024 Winner Karolina Shiino Decide To Give Up Her Crown? Know The Reason Here!
Miss Japan 2024 Karolina Shiino, a 26-year-old Ukraine-born Japanese model recently stirred quite a controversy. Her winning the prestigious beauty pageant had received mixed reactions as many felt that she did not possess the conventional Japanese beauty standards, but some welcomed her success.
Amid her win, a popular local Japanese magazine exposed Ms Shiino's 'personal' news which made her give up the beauty title! Read on to find out the 'real' reason of Miss Japan 2024 giving up her winning crown.

According to The Japan Times, Shukan Bunshun, a monthly Japanese magazine published an article which exposed Karolina Shiino's alleged relationship with a married doctor Takuma Maeda. Initially, the pageant organizers stood up for Shiino, saying she didn't know he was married. She dated him while knowing he was married though, and she subsequently admitted that she regretted lying to them.
Post the controversy, Miss Japan 2024 took to Instagram to apologize for her conduct. Her words, when translated from Japanese read: "We sincerely regret any inconvenience we have given to Mr. Maeda's wife, family, and all others who were associated with him. I just gave my agency an explanation, but a few things were missing. The truth could not be spoken because of confusion and fear.

Karolina further added that I sincerely apologize for misrepresenting myself to all of the people who encouraged and believed in me. Since I take this seriously, I have decided not to compete in the Miss Japan Grand Prix.
I also requested that my agency be taken out of my affiliation, and my request was granted. We sincerely apologize for the trouble this has created and for betraying all of our supporters."
About Karolina Shiino
Born in Ukraine, Shiino moved to Japan with her mother when she was five years old, taking on her stepfather's last name. The competition rewarded Shiino, the first person of European descent to win the title, on January 22. According to the BBC, she became a naturalized citizen in 2022 and speaks and writes Japanese fluently.
After being named Miss Japan, Karolina made a speech saying, "I had not been accepted as Japanese many times, but I am filled with gratitude to have been recognized as Japanese today."
