Republic Day Parade Tableaux 2026: States, Ministries and Themes Explained
The 77th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path is set to be one of the most visually impressive in recent years, showcasing India's culture alongside its journey towards self-reliance. This year's parade will spotlight 30 handcrafted tableaux, 17 from States and Union Territories and 13 from central Ministries and Departments, each telling its own story of tradition, progress, innovation, and identity.
What's the Big Picture?
The Republic Day Parade 2026 unfolds under two overarching themes:
- "Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram" - honouring 150 years of India's national song and the spirit of freedom.
- "Samriddhi ka Mantra: Aatmanirbhar Bharat" - showcasing India's rapid growth, self-reliance and innovation across sectors.
Together, these themes aim to bridge India's rich cultural tapestry with its future-facing achievements - something that will be visible in every float that rolls down Kartavya Path.
All 30 Tableaux: The Showcase of 2026
Here's a breakdown of the state/UT and ministry-level tableaux themes that will feature in the parade:
States & Union Territories (17 Tableaux)
- Assam: Asharikandi - Terracotta Craft Village of Assam - celebrating traditional crafts and indigenous creativity.
- Chhattisgarh: The Mantra of Freedom - Vande Mataram, emphasising the importance of its heritage in India's freedom fight.
- Gujarat: Mantra of Swadeshi - Self-Reliance & Freedom
- Kerala: Water Metro & 100% Digital Literacy - a blend of infrastructure innovations and digital literacy.
- Maharashtra: Ganeshotsav - The cultural festival with a focus on self-sufficiency.
- Manipur: Towards Prosperity - envisioning economic growth and development.
- Nagaland: The Hornbill Festival - Celebrating Culture, Tourism & Self-Reliance - showcasing tribal heritage and tourism potential.

- Puducherry: Rich cultural and craft heritage, with a nod to the Auroville vision.
- Rajasthan: Golden Touch of the Desert: Bikaner Gold Art - traditional arts meet cultural pride.
(And others complete the 17 tableau roster, emphasising regional identity, economic narratives, and cultural display.)
Ministries & Departments (13 Tableaux)
Central government ministries will also present tableaux that amplify national themes:
- Ministry of Culture: Vande Mataram - The Soul Cry of a Nation - at the heart of the celebrations.
- Ministry of Information & Broadcasting: Bharat Katha - a narrative about India's story.
- Ministry of Defence / Department of Military Affairs: Tri-services displays including Operation Sindoor and, for the first time, features like the S-400 air defence system to highlight modern military strength.
- Other departments will highlight themes of urban transformation, social reform, and technological excellence.
Why This Year's Parade Is Special
- 150 years of Vande Mataram - woven into the parade's motifs and narratives.
- A stronger emphasis on self-reliance and innovativeness of different states.
- Tableau has several themes, including traditional crafts such as Assam's terracotta village, and technology-based development.
- The tables provide several states with an opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of their lesser-known heritage, as well as their own home-grown heroes.
