When we are on a holiday or a vacation and are getting back, one of the default things that most of us do is "steal" those cute little soap bars and tiny toiletries that have been unused.

But if you are the one who used them and leave these bottles half used, then have you ever imagined what happens to them after we leave?

You would be amazed to know what exactly happens when you leave these half-used soaps in the hotel rooms.

This is an initiative that has started in the US and we guess, the trend needs to be followed all across the world, as it is quite useful.

In The US Alone, There Are Over 4.6 Million Rooms...

In the US alone, there are over 4.6 million rooms and for sure, majority of the folks do not even use the entire bar of soap during their stay. It is just not the soap, but different shampoo and conditioner containers are also left half emptied!

An Initiative That Was Started…

To ensure that all the potential cleanliness does not go for a waste, an organisation called "Clean the World" became partners with the "Global Soap Project (GSP)", where they recycle half-used soaps to make new soaps for those in need in the developing countries and reduce wastage.

It Is A Much Needed Task That Has Been Started…

This is a much-needed task that has been initiated to bring cleanliness in places where people have less access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. These reasons can lead to pneumonia and diarrhoea. Hence, proper access to soap can dramatically drop this crisis.

The Cost Of Recycling…

The cost of recycling these half-used toiletries is just 75 cents per room a month. Wherein the leftover soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioners are cleaned, sterilized, and tested for purity before they are shipped off to another part of the world.

The Change Has Initiated...

Few hotels donate the second-hand toiletries to local homeless or women's shelters or community support networks, while other hotels donate these to their local Salvation Army, and a few others to local clinics and orphanages.

There Are Those Hotels Too…

Few hotels are totally avoiding the problem even before it starts by switching to using larger shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the rooms that can be refilled, to reduce waste.
