Sony Bravia WE5 Is Watching You!

We all crib about power cuts but very few of us actually think about saving electricity. The common habits are leaving the lights and fans on when leaving the room, leaving the TV on while going out of the room etc. These habits are almost incurables. Thus Sony introduces Sony Bravis WE5, a Television which switches off automatically if you are not watching it.

Sony Bravia WE5, is the World's first to use Micro-tubular Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (HCFL) backlight, which reportedly reduces power consumption by 50%. The TV switches itself off if it senses, no one is around. This has been made possible with the use of two sensors attached to the TV.

One senses the heat in the room and the other senses the movement. The television set is sensitive to body heat. If you leave the room, the TV switches to 'Picture off' mode i.e, if you leave the room, you will continue to listen to the sound but the picture will not be on.

The other sensor is sensitive to movement i.e, if the TV, does not detect any movement in the room or of your eye, it automatically switches off. Sony Bravia WE5, is so sensitive that if you connect the TV with your computer and then are not working on it, the TV switch off, as it is not receiving any signals form the computer.

Most of the TV sets, even when switched off continues to use a minimum amount of electricity until you unplug it. Sony Bravia WE5, once commanded to switch off, stops using electricity completely.

Sony Bravia WE5 is available in 40-inch and 46-inch screens. The sensors and other function does not have any ill effect on the picture quality. The Full HD 1080p LCD panel comes with BRAVIA ENGINE 3 which specializes in cleansing, filtering and optimizing the image. It provides distilled sound and boosts contrast and colour range. The Image Blur Reduction, gives the best picture quality.

Sony reportedly will soon use the 'Smart' sensor technology in other sets this year.
