Adults' Addiction To Facebook

Study, conducted by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research found out that one third of women, who fall between the age group of 18 to 34 are addicted to Facebook. The first thing they do in a day when they wake up from their bed is check Facebook.
They polled 1605 adults who use Facebook. The facts found out were really interesting. The study says that 21 percent of women, whose age ranges from 18 to 34 checked Facebook during night hours. While 42 percent of the same category enjoyed posting their drunken snaps on the site. Another set of people loved to see their kissing photographs on Facebook.
While polled they also found out that there are a particular group of people who use this social networking site to find dates. 65 percent of men opted to find dates through Facebook. 50 percent of women too agreed that Facebook is a great platform to find dates. Where as, 63 percent of adults use this social networking site as a way to build their contacts.
Another interesting thing about Facebook is that nine percent of women use this site to break – up with their boy friends. When asked men about this, it is found out that 24 percent of them use it for the same purpose.
When asked, if they would prefer tracking their partner's activities using this site, 49 percent of women, nodded their head. They said that it would be fun to track their partner, if they had their log in details. On the other side only 42 percent of men shared the same thought.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook"s founder and chief executive, said, “The way that people think about privacy is changing a bit. What people want isn"t complete privacy. It isn"t that they want secrecy. It"s that they want control over what they share and what they don't."
Although this Facebook addiction is something not so new. The numbers which the study has brought out is really stunning. In this new age people race with life. Hence social networking sites have been of good use for youngsters, they have started loving virtual life more than real one.
