International Women's Day 2024: List Of Government Schemes For Women
On the occasion of International Women's Day on 08 March, a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women across various fields, we delve into the impactful initiatives taken by the Indian government.
The theme of 2024 is "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," coupled with the campaign theme "Inspire Inclusion," sets a clear agenda. The focus sharpens on creating equal opportunities for women and girls, aiming for a society where every individual can flourish.

The Indian government, in its endeavor to support this vision, has rolled out numerous schemes directed at enhancing the lives of women, ensuring their safety, and facilitating their social and economic empowerment.

The flagship scheme, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, spearheads the movement towards improving the Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and guaranteeing educational opportunities for girls.
Complementing this, the Stand Up India initiative offers financial support and encouragement to aspiring women entrepreneurs, aiding them in establishing their businesses.
Moreover, the Skill India Mission aims to provide women with industry-specific skills, significantly elevating their employability and competitiveness in the workforce.
2. Financial Inclusion and Entrepreneurship
The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a significant step towards securing the financial future of daughters, offering attractive interest rates and tax benefits to encourage savings.
The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) provides accessible loans to women microentrepreneurs, empowering them to launch and expand their ventures.
Furthermore, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) acts as a comprehensive resource center for women, offering guidance and information on various government schemes and initiatives.
3. Safety And Security
One-Stop Centre (OSC) Scheme - To combat violence against women and ensure their safety, the One-Stop Centre (OSC) Scheme has been introduced. These centers provide comprehensive support, including medical, legal, and psychological assistance, to women in distress.
Additionally, the 24/7 Women Helpline (181) serves as a crucial resource, offering immediate help and connecting women to necessary services.
The Mahila Police Volunteers (MPVs) initiative further strengthens this support system, promoting women's safety and collaborating with the police to secure public spaces.
The introduction and implementation of these schemes are pivotal in moving towards a future where women have the same opportunities to succeed as their male counterparts. However, the success of these initiatives relies heavily on constant monitoring, evaluation, and the addressing of societal biases.
It is imperative to promote gender equality across different sectors to ensure lasting change. By investing in women's futures today, we lay the foundation for a more inclusive and prosperous society.
