International Women's Day 2024: History And Significance
The origins of International Women's Day traced back to New York in 1857, when female textile workers demonstrated against unfair working conditions and lower wages. This marked one of the earliest organized strikes by working women.
The momentum continued, and by 1911, 08 March was officially recognized as International Women's Day. The United Nations began celebrating the day on 08 March 1975, a recognition formalized by the UN General Assembly two years later.
