Bank Holidays In January 2024: Let's face it, the first thing we all do when we get our hands on a new calendar is to check out the bank holidays, planning our escapades and mini-vacations!
According to The RBI, the holidays are classified into three categories- Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts.

Well, January 2024 is about to arrive and banks will remain closed for 16 days during this month. Therefore, if you have some urgent banking needs make sure you check the designated holiday dates before visiting the banks as the physical branches will be shut.
So, customers will be only able to avail digital services like mobile banking, UPI, and Internet banking.
Banks are closed on specific religious festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, Eid, Ganesh Chaturthi, Buddha Purnima, and others. However, these dates change every year. Also, key bank holidays in India include Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), Gandhi Jayanti (02 October), and Christmas (25 December).

On gazetted holidays, banks remain closed nationwide. Even though the majority of bank holidays remain consistent throughout the country, certain public holidays vary across states due to influence of cultures and local customs.
