Britain's most expensive coffee is made out of cat-poo!
Get ready to shell out 50 pounds for an intoxicating cup of coffee – made from cat excreta. Peter Jones, a London store, part of the John Lewis group, insists that its legion of middle-class shoppers will jump at the opportunity to taste the coffee, touted as Britain"s most expensive - even though the coffee beans have spent much of their life inside a cat's stomach.
Caffe Raro, made by the Italian company De Longhi, is a blend of the world's two rarest coffees: Jamaican Blue Mountain and , which gets its rich flavour from being ingested by Indonesian jungle cats and harvested from the faeces of the animal.
"It is in high demand from coffee aficionados. They will relish the chance to buy such a rare coffee. After all, only 200kg of coffee is produced each year," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for De Longhi, as saying.
Joe Teixeira, head of catering at the department store, added: "Peter Jones customers are more concerned with unique experiences and an appetite for the weird and the wonderful, whatever the expense.
"The fact the coffee includes a bean ingested by Indonesian civet cats gives them an experience they couldn't get anywhere else in the world."
