Pet cemetery in Kolkata
Kolkata, Jan 5 (UNI) Dignity in death, something so rare to the animal world, could now be assured for at least some at Karuna Kunj in the Southern fringes of the city.
Developed by the Compassionate Crusaders' Trust (CCT), Karuna Kunj is a pet cemetery where people bury their beloved pets in celebration of their life and in memory of their companionship.
''Owners share an emotional bond with their pets and often consider them as family members, for this reasons they want their pets to be buried with dignity,'' Debashis Chakrovorty, patron of KK said.
People from different parts of the state come to this place to bury their pet dog, cat and even cocks. People leave their love messages inscribed in the marble epitaphs to keep the memories of their loved pet alive.
Some of the pet owners also visit the place on special occassions like the death anniversary of their pet to offer prayers.
The CCT also provide a hearse service.
''We are fighting for animal rights and there can be no right without dignity. Thats the reason we started the burial ground to bury the animals with dignity,'' said Partho Bhattacharjee who looks after the operations of Karuna Kunj.
