Heard of a Fast Food center for dogs? Well, it is here in the God's own country, Kerala, where pet dogs can just get a ''Dog Biriyani'' delivered at their kennels. At the strike of 12, the pets in various homes in Thiruvananthapuram await the arrival of Venugopal, who calls himself ''kennel chef'', for their delicious ''biryani''.

About a 100 packets of ''dog biryanai'' is delivered in Thiruvananthapuram every day, he told UNI and added each day the ''pet customer'' is increasing. Venugopal, who was an x-ray welder at the Cochin Shipyard, also hopes to start an outlet and also a hotel exclusively for canines in the future. ''First let this business become steady and then I would go for a hotel exclusively for dogs,'' he said. ''Every day a new customer calls me and I think the people in Thiruvananthapuram have accepted this,'' he said. When asked how he ventured into this business unknown so far, he said ''it all started when I could not give food to my own dog at the right time. I realised that others would also be facing the same problem. After I talked to a few families who have dogs, I thought, why not start a fast food just for dogs?''

''After the idea struck me, I did a market survey for three months and talked to families who had pets. It was after this I realised that it would be a good venture,'' he said.

People care for their pets but some of them did not have the time for preparing delicious food for their pets, he said and added this new concept of fast food, served their wishes. The Biryani is a mixture of chicken, beef and various essences and spice ingredients, he said. The dogs would have beef for two days and chicken for another two days. A mix of these two were given for another two days, he said. The charge for a day was Rs 15 and for a week it was Rs 100, he said and added it was nominal.

There are also certain costumers who come to him to buy biryani. Santhosh, a customer of Venugopal said ''some days it was very tough for me to cook food for my dogs as I did not get time for it. This fast food venture has helped me to save time and to give delicious food to my dogs.'' The dogs got good food and at the right time, and this concept was really great, another customer said. Mr Venugopal and his chef start as early as 0500 hrs in the morning and deliver the food by 1000 hrs. He is the only deliveryman and all the packets would be delivered before 1200 hrs
