Rahman makes it to Limca Book '07
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Music maestro A R Rahman today entered the Limca Book of Records with four others as 'People of The Year' for their outstanding achievements in respective fields.
Besides Rahman, George Abraham known for his work with the blind, M C Marykom, first woman to win three world boxing titles, renowned cardiologist Dr Devi Prasad Shetty and tennis icon Mahesh Bhupati have been presented citations for the title.
''The all-new and invigorated Limca Book of Records 2007 provides a platform to Indians to showcase their special talents,'' Coca-Cola President and CEO Atul Singh told reporters here at the launch of the eigtheenth edition of Limca Book of Records.
To further popularise the record book, it will be translated in Hindi by next year and in some other Indian regional languages in near future, he added.
''We are also planning to include expanding the current chapter on 'Nature' to 'Nature and Environment' in the next edition,'' Mr Atul said.
At this occasion, Chewang Norphel known for his initiatives to generate water and vegetation in barren Ladakh and that of 'Mobile Creches', an NGO working to provide basic care to children of immigrant construction workers have also been recognised.
The book features over 10,000 achievements out of which 6,000 are new records from all corners of the country.
Launched in 1990, the 2007 edition of the record book now showcases over 10,000 awe inspiring feats in 21 chapters.
