Mental well-being of women urged
Guwahati, Mar 8 (UNI) Editor of Assamese daily 'Dainik Asom' Dhirendranath Chakraborty today urged for a greater role of women for the progress of the society.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Role of Women in Society' here, Mr Chakraborty said women need to play a more active role for the uplift of the society as a whole.
He pointed out that for the all-round development of the society, the conditions of the women must be improved, adding that the women must come forward with their grievances and problems.
Noted psychiatrist Dipali Dutta, also speaking on the occasion, elaborated on the need for sound mental health and care for women, particularly of the lower strata of society.
Dr Dutta said special attention should be paid to the mental well-being of women as they form the most exploited lot in society.
The seminar was organised by the state Social Welfare Department as part of International Women's Day today.
