Bangalore, Oct 24 (UNI) After tourism and apparel industry, IT related Medical Transcription industry was growing into a major foreign exchange earner for India with a potential annual turnover of Rs 9000 crore, apart from creating a large number of jobs, eShadows Info Tech CEO B S Raghunath said today.
Speaking to news persons here, he said that transcribing of medical records dictated by health care professionals from abroad, was emerging as a major employment generating sector which could also ensure steady flow of foreign exchange revenue to the country.
He said an estimated 10,000 personnel were required every year for the Medical Transcription industry which was expected to shoot up to 170,000 by the end of 2009. Hence there was a need to open more number of centres to train youth in human resources, he said.
Mr Raghunath said that in India many companies in the metros and other major cities had begun offering medical transcription facility and they were in need of suitable candidates in large numbers.
He said that the eShawos Infotech had established a centre to impart training where youngsters would be equipped with two main aspects of the Medical Transcribing, like understanding the medical terrminologies and sharpening of hearing skills to excel in this profession. The trained candidates could also work from their homes, he added.
