3 Unique Cucumbers For Your Garden
Cucumbers are amongst the healthiest fruits and can be grown quite easily in your backyard garden. While cucumbers also happen to be some of the healthiest vegetables, there are these three unique types of cucumbers you'd definitely want for your garden. Each of these unique cucumber types has similar benefits as far as health and nutrition elements are concerned. This article elaborates the three types of cucumbers you can grow in your backyard garden.
If you are a cucumber lover and cannot get enough, these three types of cucumbers will certainly give you a hard time finding space in your garden.

Suyo Long:
The Suyo Long is a popular type of cucumber and is quite common in many parts of the world. They are especially known for their ability to grow to a length of at least 15 inches. Some types of Suyo Long can also grow to a length of 18 inches. Occasional smooth can skin can be associated with this type but mostly, the skin is ribbed. This type of cucumbers have a tendency to curl.
This type of cucumber takes at least 55-60 days to harvest.
Puna Kheera:
This is a popular type of cucumber that looks like a potato. The Poona Kheera has its origin in South-East Asia and is extremely popular in most South-East Asian countries. This type of cucumber is immensely juicy and fresh, probably because it is closely related to the melon family.
One major advantage of the Poona Kheera is that this type of cucumber species can stay firm and healthy for long periods of time, quite contrary to traditional cucumber species.
This type of cucumber also takes roughly about 60 days to harvest. In order to get a good yield, begin growing the crop during mid summer.
The Mexican Gherkin:
This form of cucumber is amongst the most unique types, for it has a distinct yin-yang flavour. The flesh of the cucumber too has a different flavour- it is distinctly cool. The Mexican Gherkin finds its origin in Mexico and the Central America region.
One of the many reasons why the Mexican Gherkin is different from other traditional cucumber species is that they are extremely tiny. They length of growth is just about 1 or 2 inches. There is absolutely no need to slice them and peel them- they can be eaten like any other tiny fruit.
