8 Symptoms That Show You Are A Pre-diabetic

Prediabetes, or borderline diabetes, is a condition where your blood glucose level is higher than normal, but still you are not diagnosed with type II diabetes. The chance of developing type II diabetes is very high in this case. Usually symptoms of Prediabetes are very difficult to be identified, as most of these resemble general health issues.
Normal fasting blood glucose level should be less than 100 mg/dL. If this is between 100 mg/dL and 125 mg/dL, you are in a prediabetic stage. Prediabetes stage is risky and this require extra care to prevent future diabetes.
How well you manage your pre diabetic stage decides how efficient you are in preventing diabetes. It is high time to listen to this wake-up call to keep yourself healthy.

None of the symptoms is specific enough to suspect prediabetes. But when considered together, this can be a warning sign. Regular checkup of blood sugar is very important to diagnose a prediabetic stage at the earliest. One of the worst parts is that no symptoms of prediabetes are clearly shown.
Early management of prediabetic stage will prevent many diseases like heart attacks, strokes and even kidney problems that are serious complications of diabetes.

1. Increased Thirst:
If you are in borderline diabetes, you will experience thirst more than usual. This is one of the symptoms of prediabetes. Quench for drinking water will be seen in normal dehydration as well. So, it is important to check for other symptoms of diabetes.

2. Frequent Urination:
Frequent urination can be due to many health issues, including kidney problem. But if you are urinating frequently and the quantity of urine is more than usual, it can be an early sign of type 2 diabetes.

3. Blurry Vision:
Are you experiencing blurred vision? In such a case, there will be a loss in the sharpness of vision. In this type of vision, objects appear out of focus and hazy. Many people with borderline diabetes face this symptom.

4. Gum Inflammation:
Yes, gums are frequently infected during the pre-diabetic stage. The compromised immune system will make it difficult for the body to fight against the bacteria. The condition will become worse if not treated in the right time.

5. New Dark Patches:
People with prediabetes may develop certain skin disorders and it starts with dark patches on some areas of the body, especially where there are skin creases or folds. Neck, armpits, elbows, knees and knuckles are the usually affected areas.

6. Weight Loss
Since the glucose available in the blood cannot be used for energy, the stored fat will be used by the body for energy. This will result in sudden weight loss that is easily noticeable. This is one of the common signs that you should suspect prediabetes.

7. Cuts That Won’t Heal Soon:
Since there is less blood flow to the limbs and there is a compromised immune system during the prediabetes stage, there will be a delay in wound healing. This is a common warning sign of prediabetes. If such a condition prevails, consult a doctor at the earliest.

8. Extreme Fatigue:
In prediabetic stage, there will be glucose circulation in your body. But, due to insulin resistance, it will be unable for the body to convert glucose to energy. This will result in extreme fatigue, which is one of the primary symptoms of prediabetes.
