Well, common cold can be quite uncomfortable and also cause a lot of pain and discomfort to the patients, hampering their daily routine.
Common cold and flu are caused by bacterial or viral infections that are spread through mediums such as air, water, food, etc.
If a person's immune system is not strong enough, then he/she is more susceptible to contracting viral flu and common cold.

Some of the common symptoms of flu include fever, cold, cough, fatigue, headache, sore throat, bold pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, etc.
There may be a few surprising reasons why your cold may not be healing; have a look!

1. Stress
When you are stressed, a hormone called cortisol in released in your body. This hormone can weaken your immune system and make the healing of cold slower.

2. Smoking
If you are smoking a lot, then your cold may take a long time to heal, as it can worsen the mucus build-up in your nasal tracts.

3. Decongestant Sprays
When you overuse decongestant sprays that can reduce congestion, it can worsen the inflammation in your nasal tract, making your cold linger around for a long time.

4. Over-Exercising
Exercising is healthy; however, if you indulge in over-exercising, especially when you have a cold, your immune system will be affected and make the cold stay longer.

5. Allergy
If you are allergic to dust, animal fur, pollen, etc., it can inflame the nasal cavities and make the cold healing process slower.

6. Sinusitis
If you are suffering from sinusitis, due to the infection and inflammation caused in the nasal cavity, the cold symptoms may not heal, unless you get treated for sinusitis.

7. Pneumonia
If you are suffering from pneumonia, your nasal tract will be extremely delicate and prone to infection, and the cold may not heal quickly.
