Does your pee smell very unpleasant? Read more to find out why that happens!
If you have noticed that your urine smells extremely pungent or it has a "weird" odour lately, then, you must not brush it off, as there are a few dangerous health complications that can cause your urine to smell bad.
Now, as we know, humans are not new to diseases, right from the moment we are born, to the time we die, we experience a whole array of ailments.
While some people are fortunate enough to not suffer from serious disorders, some other may become victims to major diseases throughout our lives!
The human body has a way of warning you whenever there is a threat of a certain ailment or disorder.
For example, before you get a fever, you might develop fatigue or cold, and if you take precautions, you may be able to prevent the fever!
Similarly, there are other disorders that also show certain signs that we must not ignore and smelly urine is one of them.
Here are some surprising reasons why your urine could smell bad.

1. Diabetes
If your urine has a thick, "sweetish", yet pungent odour, you must get tested for diabetes, as the excess blood sugar in your urine, could be the reason.

2. Excess Multivitamins
If your urine has an unpleasant, medicine-like odour, it could be because you are taking in a lot of multivitamin supplements. You can talk to your doctor about lowering the dosage.

3. Dehydration
Smelly urine can also be caused if your body is extremely dehydrated, as dehydration can make your urine very concentrated. So drink enough water every day!

4. Microbial Infections
If you are infected by bacterial or fungal infections, then the infection-causing agents can get into your urine stream, making it smell very pungent, so you must visit a doctor to get tests done.

5. Holding Urine
If you have the habit of holding in your urine for too long, it can cause bladder infections, that eventually leads to bad smelling urine!

6. Eating Certain Vegetables
If you eat certain vegetables like asparagus, turnips, onions and garlic in excess, the enzymes in them, can react with your urine, making your pee smell pungent.

7. UTI
If you are suffering from a urinary tract infection, which is a bacterial infection that affects your genitals, the pus formed can get into the urine, making it smell bad.
