World Health Day 2026: You’re Not As Healthy As You Think—Here’s Why
Are Depression And Menopause Linked?
A new study claims that women who reach menopause very late (in old age) tend to minimise their risk of suffering depression. This study further says that premature menopause may increase the risk of suffering depression during old age whereas menopause after 45 may reduce the chances of depression.

When a woman's reproductive capacity is longer and when menopause occurs late, the body's hormonal action helps reduce the risk of depression.
Researchers opine that estrogen levels have a link with this effect but still are not sure about it. They are also studying whether estrogen based therapy might help women reduce their risk of suffering depression at a late age.

After studying more than 45000 women, researchers have reached this opinion. Though the current findings may not be sufficient to help women from the dangers of depression in old age, researchers are hoping that the future may see proper therapies in place to combat the issue.

As we all know, depression during old age has turned into a major problem for both men and women. Also, hormones play an important role in the big picture and this is why researchers are looking in that direction.

Currently, there is no way to postpone menopause but still researchers are more interested in trying to find a way to naturally prevent depression in women during old age.
