How Much Sleep Do You Actually Need?
It is anticipated that on an average you need to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Getting a good night's sleep is the key to remain calm, composed and active the next day.
If you do not sleep well, you will find it difficult to be active and carry out your daily chores effectively the next day since the body and the mind would not have got the much needed rest it requires.

However, some sleep experts believe that you do not need eight hours of sleep every night. Some say that even four hours of sleep suffice.
This has been a topic of debate and several researches have been conducted on this. Let us try to find out how much sleep we actually require to stay active mentally and physically during the day.

For this you have to be aware of how much time you need to fall asleep. Usually, it takes fifteen to twenty minutes for a person to fall asleep.
If you fall asleep right after you lie down, you may not be getting enough sleep. If you fall asleep after an hour or after more than an hour, it means that you are sleeping too much.

If you awaken often in the middle of the night, you lack in sleep continuity. This could happen as a result of sleep conditions like sleep apnea and also if you sleep too much at a stretch.

If you wake up before your alarm, it means that your body is saying that you have got the required amount of sleep. Instead of going back to sleep, try to get up. People have actually felt better after some time.

Try to be aware of how you feel during the day. Do you feel sleepy all the time? Apart from feeling sleepy from low energy levels and feelings of fatigue do you fall asleep after lunch while sitting or reading? If you do not then the amount of sleep that you are getting at night is perfect for you. If you doze off during the day, it means you need more sleep.
