Though most of us see ginger as a food, it was perceived as a medicine by the previous generation. Yes, it was used to treat many ailments.

As this spice contains many medicinal properties, many people make it a habit to eat a piece of it every morning on empty stomach. Of course, if you are allergic to ginger then you should avoid doing so as it ca irritate your mouth and may also make your stomach upset.
But for others, ginger can do miracles. It contains gingerols and shogaols which are anti-inflammatory compounds. It also contains certain infection fighting compounds.

In fact, ginger can work better than many drugs when it comes to treating certain minor ailments. In fact, ginger is the best remedy for sore throat, menstrual cramps, indigestion, constipation, cough and cold. But still, consult your doctor before trying raw ginger.

some diabetes patients who drink ginger water first thing in the morning, experience stable blood sugar levels.

Blood Circulation
Ginger is good for blood circulation. Some people use ginger mildly in very small quantities to massage certain areas to promote blood circulation. (Never try this as your skin may get irritated).

Appetite
If you chew a raw ginger piece before eating food, your appetite will increase.

Headache
If you are suffering from migraine, you can try this. Grind a small piece of ginger into paste and dilute it with water. Apply the same to your forehead if you can bear with the irritation that ginger causes.

Cough
Boil a piece of ginger in water and add a few drops of lemon and honey to it. This water clears sore throat, cough and even nasal congestion.

Toothache
Massaging your gums with a small piece of ginger can ease toothache. You can also boil a piece of ginger in water and gargle the water.

Prevents Nausea
Ginger helps prevent nausea and vomiting. Those suffering from morning sickness can try it out.

Digestion
Boil ginger in some water and mix a drop of honey before drinking it. This remedy enhances digestion.
