Tips To Freshen Your Breath During Ramzan
During the holy month of Ramadan, our breath may have a mild smell because of fasting. The foods we eat during sohur (breakfast before dawn) have a huge impact on our breath and also the amount of water we consume after breaking the fast.
Dehydration also causes bad breath so take lot of water after breaking fast and in sohur time. Not eating enough carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables is also one of the reasons of smelly breath during fasting.
Detect Health Conditions From Breath
If you are eating wrong foods and not eating good carbs, this results in the formation of ketone bodies in your blood that can cause a smelly breath. Have bananas, oats and other whole grain to keep your breath fresh during fasting.
You have to follow some tips to keep your breath fresh during the holy month of Ramadan. Have a look at some tips to keep your breath fresh during fasting in Ramadan.
8 Unexpected Causes Of Bad Breath

Have Healthy Sohur (meal Before Dawn Time)
Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your sohur meal. They will help to freshen your breath fresh during fasting. They will also cleanse your teeth naturally as they remove the plaque from your teeth.

Rinse Your Mouth With Baking Soda
During sohur rinse your mouth with baking soda and lemon mixed in water. To make the oral rinse mix 1/4 cup baking soda with two tablespoons lemon juice and a pinch of salt. This kills the bacteria in your mouth that cause smell.

Gargle With Clove Water
Boil few cloves in a glass of water and let it cool. In sohur time gargle with it after having meals. You can also rinse your mouth with it during day but make sure it is not ingested.

Avoid Raw Onion And Garlic
The smell of garlic and onion will remain there during the whole day even after brushing and rinsing your mouth. Since you can't eat anything during the day to mask the bad breath so avoid eating raw onion and garlic during Ramadan.

Avoid Cheese In Sohur
Cheese may also cause bad breath during the day. If you really want to eat it then after eating cheese, suck a small lemon slice with salt. This will kill the bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath after eating cheese.

Drink A Lot Of Water In Iftar And Sohur
If you get dehydrated then this may cause bad breath. So you need to drink a lot of water after breaking fast and during sohur to compensate for the recommended three litres of water that we can't drink during fasting.

Use A Mouth Wash Or A Miswak
It is permitted to use a mouth wash or miswak (teeth cleaning twig from a tree called Salvadora persica) during the day to freshen your breath. Make sure the contents are not ingested. It is better to use miswak rather than a mouth wash.

Brush Without A Paste During Day
You can brush your teeth without a paste during the day if you fear that the paste may get ingested by you. Simple brushing will remove the plaque from your teeth causing bad breath. During sohur brush your teeth well to prevent oral smell during the day.

Have Good Carbs At Sohur
Fasting may result in the formation of ketone bodies if you are not eating enough carbohydrates. These ketones will cause foul smell of mouth. Have banana, oats and other whole grains for sohur to prevent bad odour during the day.
